You're so welcome. Teachers MUST be allowed in some ways to tailor their teaching to their unique group of students.
I didn't have room to go into it in this piece, but one reason why I survived my high school traumas was that I'd had a lot of teachers like that through ninth grade. They nurtured my unique abilities in ways that helped me not to become undone educationally by things like going to school on split sessions for a while after I started tenth grade at a new school.
Also agree that students may have too much homework. That's a topic for another post, but it seems related, and I appreciate your mentioning it.
