You're right. It's an example of how to use humor in a non-malicious way that also has a cross-generational appeal. One of my favorite Dr. Rick commercials was an early one that showed a parent holding a clamshell phone and asking, in effect, "Why should I throw this away? It's not broken." I still smile when I think of it.
