You're probably right, Steve. I used to write a newspaper column for which I always had 1,000 words and could often go longer, so I regularly struggle on Medium to keep stories to a reasonable length.

That's partly why I wrote another story today for Politically Speaking on what still shocks me about Southern politics (and why I'm likely to do more). I could write an entire story expanding a brief comment I made today about how people in the Deep South don't consider Florida a "Southern" state (the politics and many other things are too different).
