You are so right about the need for equal funding, which goes to the heart of what happened in New Jersey,

In NJ the public schools were funded solely or largely by property taxes before the state Supreme Court intervened. That system meant students in well-off suburbs were getting a vastly better education than in urban high schools like mine.

The experience at my high school shows that even the much-needed infusions of cash aren't a quick fix problems that have existed for generations. How to deal with such gaps is one of the major problems--if not THE major problem--facing U.S. schools today at the pre-college level.
