You and I were so lucky to go to school when students were taught how to do just that--to think critically.

It's my sense that in schools today, there's much more of a "feel your feelings" approach to evaluating art. Because of it, students come away not knowing how to judge art on a level that goes beyond their emotions. That can really hurt artists who are trying to do something more challenging that evoking a strong feeling.
