Yes to the color charts and keeping it fun if you're doing to do it! I'd just rather have my child read a dozen really great books by kindergarten: say, Sendak, Beatrix Potter, Eric Carle, The Snowy Day, and some good poetry books instead of 1000 not-so-hot ones.
