Yes! They were the definition of heroism. We are so fortunate that a nursing historian learned of and decided to write about them while some were still alive and able to be interviewed.
I'm going to write about D-Day on June 6 and would love to do something on any involved Army nurses or other service women, but I've never seen a book like Elizabeth Norman's about them. The good books about the role of women in Overlord tend to focus on those in Resistance movements, who made a different kind of contribution.
