Yes! That's partly why I wrote this. Petry should be easier to find than she is. The story I mentioned is much more directly relevant to the Black Lives Matter movement and other contemporary trends than is, for example, any I know of by Zora Neale Hurston--and yet, I suspect Hurston would be much easier to find in libraries.
It's hard to understand why. Part of it may be that Petry left New York (and contacts who might have helped her build her reputation) at a certain point. She might also have been ill-served by early publishers who made The Street look pulpy, which probably helped the novel sell that million copies but worked against her developing a literary reputation.
