Yes! Something similar does seem to be happening on Medium.

I see more trauma stories than I'd like, relative to other topics, although I mute authors whose work seems to fall into the category of "you needed to write this more than I needed to read it."

I can't quite figure out what's going on, or sort out that chicken-and-egg issue you mention. Am I seeing so much trauma because that's what members are writing? Or because the pub editors and curators think that's what we want and put it in front of us more? Thanks for raising such a perceptive point.
