Yes! Gardenias may be the only other flower that has such a strong and distinctive scent.

Funny that you mention azaleas. They're huge here and *used* to be a wonderful sign that spring had arrived. But my town is now awash with a strain called Encore Azaleas that bloom all year, which has its pros and cons. And instead of the story on crepe myrtles, I was going to write (and still plan to do) a story on how this trend divides people. Do you have Encore Azaleas where you live?
