"Whatever happened to that?" Exactly. I wrote this piece, in part, because entire generations (Gen Z and younger millennials especially) have no idea that the media ecosphere wasn't always as bad as it is now.

I appreciate your list of magazines, too, and admire all of them. The New Yorker can tilt as much to the left as MSNBC, but so much of the reporting is so good I'm happy to adjust any bias.
