What a wonderful point: All the self-promotion can be exhausting as well as futile. Promoting your writing on social media can easily turn into a case of the tail wagging the dog.

As you say, writing is a business, but the writing needs to be your priority. I wish I'd made the point in the story about how exhausting and joy-draining all the promotion can be, and I appreciate your giving me an opportunity to say that here.
