I haven't lived in Chicago but have deep familial ties to the city into the 21st c., when a cousin was on the board of the Lyric: My great-grandfather was part of a team of Scottish stonemasons (in his case, from Nairn) who built many landmarks in the city: Navy Pier, Buckingham Fountain, Tribune Tower, etc. And as a journalist, I've freelanced for the Tribune and S-T.
