There were a lot of comments to that effect during the coverage.

The consensus from British commentators seemed to be that the monarchy must be scaled back, which is already happening, though you wouldn't have known it from the pageantry on Saturday: Americans probably wouldn't have realized that "only" 2,000 people were invited to Westminster Abbey (instead of upwards of 6,000 as in the past) if the broadcasters hadn't kept noting the fact.
