A strength of "Catch and Kill" is that Farrow keeps a tight focus on Weinstein and doesn't bog his story down with a lot of backstory on how bad things also were under the old studio system. But of course you are right that the system did cover up a lot. If my memory is correct, it also hid things that weren't crimes but that the bosses thought could hurt them at the box office, such as that Rock Hudson was gay.
