"that's the point--how did they get that way?": Yes! The greater the book or TV series is, the more this is true (and the less the spoiler matters). I suspect that a lot of people have rewatched at least their favorite episodes of the "Sopranos" --even knowing how they end--because they get so much pleasure out of them.
