That's an interesting question. My sense is that a lot of people have to ask it--in part, because the CIA recruited for decades on campuses (just like any other employer) and probably still does.

I've known people who were recruited that way, usually at top schools: There's a line in the book about how the CIA got the Ivy League or equivalent graduates while the FBI had the students from state universities (seriously). And those candidates must have had to do a lot of soul-searching.
