That's a wonderful (if heartbreaking) story. It's certainly up there among my favorites. I co-lead a short story group on Zoom for journalists around the U.S., and we just read two by Hemingway.

The presenters made great choices in the Nick Adams stories "Indian Camp" and "Big Two-Hearted River." But we may do another session on Hemingway precisely b/c we had to leave out great stories like the one you mentioned and "Hills Like White Elephants." Thanks for reading.
