That's a really interesting point about the Romance languages--in part, because they don't just use pronouns differently (and have masculine and feminine articles like "le" and "la" in French) but seem to view related issues differently, too.
I've heard, for example, that Latinos and Latinas dislike "Latinx" and don't use it--that this is something invented by non-Hispanics. And I agree that it would be interesting to know how debates like these are playing out elsewhere. Thanks for a perceptive question.
