That's a great quote from Winston. I knew and liked him: He lived in my town and was on a board that chose me as a writer-in-residence at an arts center.

But I hadn't heard that quote, and it fits what I knew of him. He was a former newspaper reporter in Washington who knew how to avoid burying the lede when he spoke about his work. We all miss him here in Alabama. Thanks for the memory.
