Thanks, Nick. It's apparently the same, in some ways, in cartooning.

One of the great writers on Medium is @LizaDonnelly, a New Yorker cartoonist, who's written about how cartoonists for the magazine all show their drawings once a week to the art director, who accepts relatively few. That means some cartoonists get rejected week after week, and it's such a thrill when they finally break through.

Liza does visual journalism, or stories illustrated with her own drawings, for Medium, and I think you'd enjoy following her if you aren't.
