Thanks, Heather. Maybe we need a few movie stars living in the Pine Barrens? We hear about the Malibu fires all the time.

One difference between our fires and yours is that the California fires have inspired more good books. I loved the nonfiction book by Bill Plashke, the LAT sportswriter, about the Paradise football team that came back heroically after fire destroyed the town.

I still remember one detail from it: The Paradise fire was so furious, the scoreboard at the stadium melted. Plashke is such a good writer, he really made you see the devastation.
