Thanks for introducing me to this term. The AP Stylebook warns writers against using "African American" as an all-purpose synonym for "black" given that black people in the U.S. may not identify that way but as, for example, "Afro Caribbean."

I've heard "Afro Columbian" and other country-specific terms, but this was the first time I'd seen Afro Latin. Appreciate the education you've provided in another term some people may prefer.
