Thanks, Diana. The book is 600 pages, and you might find shorter ones, but it's the titan.
Have you read a recent book called "Looking for the Good War"? A nonmilitary friend likes it a lot. She says the premise is that Americans keep looking for a "good war" when that's the wrong approach: Wars aren't "good" or "bad" but necessary or unnecessary. My friend is finding its arguments very persuasive. She also likes that the author evaluates a lot of war movies from a military point of view: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/29/books/review-looking-for-good-war-elizabeth-samet.html
