Thanks, Ben. That makes sense when, even seven years ago, all those flyers flung into Gulf Coast driveways were attacking trans people specifically.

Here in Alabama, you still hear the phrase "the LGBTQ agenda" a lot, and the GOP may have realized that it's so vague, nobody knows what it means.

What I can't figure out is: What's the chicken and what's the egg? Are GOP pols taking their cues from fringe right groups? Or are fringe right groups reflecting the broader political dynamic? It's baffling.
