I grew up a few miles from the old Camp Kilmer, which (we were told) was the main point of entry for Hungarians into the U.S., and I lived amid many thousands of their descendants. The old camp site is close to what is now the museum of the Hungarian Heritage Foundation, which I've visited. And I've tried to learn as much as I can about Hungarian history.
But my ancestors came over decades before '56 and don't have the perspective you do. I appreciate your taking the time to fill in the gaps in my knowledge. Your comment on the Canadian woman who returned to Hungary was especially interesting. Thank you again!
