Thank you, Paul! An interesting aspect of the U.S./U.K. divide is that recent research suggests that Vitamin D (i.e., sunshine) strengthens your immune system.

It's my impression that the British traditionally have been bigger on outdoor exercise than Americans are (unless I've read too many books about schoolchildren forced to go outside for "games" in even the wettest and coldest weather, when U.S. schools would keep them indoors). If that's an accurate perception, the British as a whole may have more daily exposure to sunshine and should stronger immune systems.

I'd be skeptical of the harshest British lockdowns, too. Not being allowed to visit another household seems so severe. And wasn't there some kind of flap over Boris' giving a party at No., 10 at one point?
