Thank you for mentioning Iran under the Shah! It's helpful context for what's happening now.

I believe the CPJ that a record number of journalists were jailed last year. But there had to have been countless others we never heard about under the shahs, the old U.S.S.R, Mao, and more. And I suspect that the numbers back then would have been higher than they are now.

Much appreciate your giving me a chance to work in that background. The era of the shahs is fading even from boomers' memories, and your comments may fill in gaps for Zoomers and younger millennials.
