Cats have been one of the greatest challenges in Ukraine because if they're abandoned, they don't get spayed or neutered. And they can have five or six litters a year. So lot of kittens starve simply because there's no food for them.

You're right that the situation in Gaza is similar. How can anyone feed the cats when there isn't even food for humans? Some of the animal-welfare groups that are trying to help are truly heroic.
