Publishing could certainly do more with more accountability. I wrote about this indirectly in an earlier piece called "Why Are Writers Expected To Do So Much Self-Promotion?"

Writers constantly being told that the secret to selling their books is "promote, promote, promote." But that won't help if, say, there's no market for what they're promoting or if the market is saturated. And no one is accountable when that "promote, promote, promote" message doesn't work. Thanks for making that valuable point.
