Or try to sell you a course that's supposed to help you achieve their astounding success. Some writing courses can be extremely helpful (esp. when taught by writers who have achieved success in the kind of writing you want to do). I knew I wanted to be a journalist and studied under a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter, which was priceless.

But so many online writing courses, boot camps, and the like are taught by people whose main goal seems to be to separate you from your money. And writers earn too little of that as it is.
