Only in passing to note amounts some authors have received for film rights. It's complicated because authors first sell the rights to a so-called option (the right to put together a movie deal by finding producers, etc.) for a limited time, typically a year or less. They get more money if the filming actually starts.

These amounts can differ drastically. I know something about this because I had a movie option on one of my novels. But others know much more. If you're interested, you may want to start by searching like "How much do you earn for a movie option for your book?" because many more authors (like me) get options than see their books made into movies.
