Much appreciate all your points. Your comment that Poland is the most pro-US nation is especially helpful because it's harder for Americans to see than a defense budget.

Anyone who's visited France may have seen anti-Americanism there. Fewer of us have visited Poland so we can't judge as easily the pro- or anti-America sentiments in the country.

But your comment makes sense. A perhaps related fact: When I lived in New York City, I loved the annual Pulaski Day parade on Fifth Ave., a big exuberant event with girls in Polish dress doing polkas in flatbed trucks.

It really brought Poles and Americans together for a day. Yet there was nothing that brought the French and Americans together in the same way: no Bastille Day parade, for example, though there were private parties. Thank you for such thought-provoking comments!
