"Lose jobs": definitely. I worked for a newspaper at which someone *did* get fired for plagiarism. But all the online sharing and recycling may have made it harder for students and others to understand what's OK and what's not. So I appreciate your bringing up a point that may be new to many: the difference between matching and plagiarizing.
