@LizaDonnelly is a treasure. She has a book coming out in February on female New Yorker cartoonists. Once the book is out, I'll take a look at it and see if it has anything that might work for you on what made those women successful. Those women are pioneers, because drawing New Yorker cartoons was dominated by men for SO long.
