Just want to add that if you DO follow the rules, @StephenMuskett is a pleasure to work with. He accepts and publishes work very promptly and respects writers who respect the AofA guidelines, so I've enjoyed writing for him.
I'd also encourage potential contributors to think about whether there's an overlooked educational angle to a topic that interests you. Back in November I wanted to write about National Novel Writing Month and planned to do it on my own feed. But while I was researching the story, I learned that the program has been used in 5,000+ classrooms. So I submitted it to AofA even though I wasn't calling for "reform" (i.e., urging schools to keep or get rid of it). I just thought people might like to know what it involves. That piece has ended up doing very well for me; it's had just shy of 1k claps so far.
I'd bet that a lot of other topics are making similar inroads in classrooms and might interest AofA. Thanks again for this excellent publication.
