It's a political challenge, for sure. One thing that's helped is getting involved with campaigns in a way I could never do while working for newspapers: e.g., co-chairing Writers & Artists for Doug Jones. It was thrilling to see that Alabama could elect a Democratic U.S. Senator for the first time in 20 years, and it and gives me hope for future successes.
