It makes a difference even with stories like mine on Weinstein, which didn't involve breaking news, because he's appealing his convictions and if a decision had come down on one of the appeals before the story was posted, in fairness to him I'd have felt I had to revise to it and mention that at least in passing. And you'd have saved me some work if it had :).
