It might also be helpful if writers refused to write for publications that publish these stories (and let the editors know that). Editors of pubs don't have to publish these stories (and many don't).
Some editors put a note on their submissions page saying something like: "We don't publish Medium meta stories" (Medium stories about Medium). Or they say more specifically that they don't publish articles about earnings.
My blunt view: If you write for pubs that keep publishing earnings reports, you're letting their editors off the hook. I left one shortform publication in part because the editors were allowing those reports, day after day. It was so unappealing.
