Interesting. You could be right. But I'm not sure there is a flood of romcoms in novels (at least compared with the flood of what used to be "chick lit" a couple of decades ago).

There's definitely a one-woman flood of romance-- i.e., Colleen Hoover--but if there's any comedy in them, I've missed it. In any case, I'd be really interested in reading an article developing the idea you mentioned if you ever write one :).
