In new or forthcoming books, I've seen a lot of support for your views about the role of capitalism in sexism. "Intersectional" feminism, which started to gain momentum in the late 1980s, argues that the issue was slighted by second-wavers. So intersectional feminism looks at the intersection of misogyny and forces like racism, capitalism, etc. If you're interested in the issue, you'll find a lot about it online. It's a very lively debate!
