I’m so sorry about your awful experience. Your comments — and your husband’s reactions — were totally credible to me after the research I did. As far as I can tell, *nobody* except for doctors and hospitals thinks it’s a good idea to keep women flat on their backs throughout labor and delivering against gravity.

In videos of hospital births in the U.K., the women are out of bed and walking around, or leaning on the bed, while being coached by sympathetic midwives. A much less scary approach.

I hope your generous sharing of your experiences will encourage more women to speak out, because that seems to be the only way change will occur. Thank you!
