I'd bet you could find more of those break-in-the-fourth-wall picture books today. Hope you write about them if you do.

I've been discussing picture books as art with another commenter here, who used to teach a class on the subject. And the book that wowed you as a child might be another example of how they can be much more than just great bedtime stories, or art in their own right.
