I'd also like to see the platform take a tougher stance on other serious issues, such as copyright violations and libel, that don't necessarily involve a hostile or uncivil tone.

On Medium I've often seen egregious copyright violations, such as posting all the lyrics to a new Taylor Swift song, that don't get seem to get the equivalent of a takedown order from the platform: They've just stayed up. The same goes for potentially libelous articles.

Yes, you can't expect a new writer to know copyright and libel laws as well as a lawyer or journalist, but breaches of those shouldn't be allowed to stand, either. Medium needs to find a way to deal with lapses like these and the writers behind them.
