I started the challenge and explained the reason in the original post: It was inspired by an extremely popular BBC show that's been running for decades that asks guests to pick eight pieces of music they'd take to a desert island. But it seemed to me that people have less patience than they did when Winston Churchill was prime minister, so I lowered the number to 7 to keep the piece short when I gave my original seven.
