I do book recommendations a lot, too, and appreciate others'. I don't see recommendations as smug at all, just the bragging about book counts.

I'd value your perspective as much if you did a thoughtful post (based on having read only one book that month) as if you did it based on 10. Thanks for giving me a chance to clarify this.
