I agree with every word of this. In the U.S. philosophy programs often take abuse for their supposed inability to help you get a job. The Washington Post had an excellent rebuttal to this premise in an article that listed American leaders who majored in philosophy with no regrets (including Stephen Breyer, as @MichaelKupperberg noted in another comment).
