Ha. I knew you'd have a response. That topic has interested me ever since I read an essay by a good book-and-film who argued: Apart from Shakespeare, Dickens has been better served by filmmakers than any major author. That was early in the Jane Austen-movie boom, and you might make the case today that Austen has been as well served as Dickens. But if you took on his "who-besides-Shakespeare?" argument and rebutted or ratified it, that would be an automatic 50 claps from me because I've been looking for years for a persuasive counterargument for another author.
