Are you protected? Good question.

A basic rule in defamation cases is: Truth is a defense. Defamation portrays someone falsely in a way that hurts the person's reputation or character.

The challenge today is: People don't agree on what "truth" is anymore. So your "truth" may not be someone else's. And, alas, you'd have to ask a lawyer then?
