Agree that "overrated" and "underrated" have a place, if used sparingly, as I said to that commenter, and I use both at times. Both have the most value once the weight of critical opinion has settled.
Also agree that a conversational tone or strong voice can keep plot summary from becoming dreary or Wikipedia-like. There's nothing wrong with a summary that begins: "The fatuous plot involves ..." I can't recall if I've written those words, but I'm the sort of critic who would have, as are most of the reviewers I admire :).
